Nose: An opening note of intense campfire smoke that blends with ripe summer stone fruit, peach, plum and cherry. Deep notes of marzipan take center stage, combined with complex maritime notes.
Palate: The red wine barrels bring pepper and spices to the first taste. Dry, salty peat smoke settles on the palate, but fruity notes of apricot and lemon also find their way through.
Finish: A long finish that brings with it a sharp, spicy character from the marriage in Portuguese red wine casks. Stewed, cooked fruit notes provide a sweet marmalade profile and a lingering sweetness that's beautifully balanced by the classic Kilchoman smoke.
Aging: fresh bourbon casks (6 years) before 38 casks were selected and married together for 2 years in two 6,000 liter Portuguese red wine casks.
