Lush fruitiness is the key to GLEN ELGIN 's character. Achieved through a clear spiciness, a long fermentation and a slow distillation in the six pot stills , it gives the single malt its weight and enormous complexity. No wonder this whiskey has always been a popular ingredient in many classic blends. The variety of aromas of this 'Hidden Gem' among the Speyside Malts is rounded off in our 11-year-old bottling by the 9-month post-maturation in former Sauternes barriques : citrus fruits, vanilla crescents and floral notes rise to the nose, followed by seductive aromas of ripe apricots, honey sweetness, Pastries, spices and roasted almonds that caress the palate.
